…with the girl from  La Bamba Pinups.

Get the look!

We have a studio but we Love location and theme shoots!

We had fun at the Carnival shooting this look for La Bamba Pinups, high rise shorts and cute anchor top can both be found on online shop.  Those and some other really cute retro fashions and  inspiration.

Thanks to our beautiful model, Lauren for putting together a great look and having the good idea to make a trip to the Carnival!  …even if we did get a little bit kicked out.

It was a really fun shoot and well worth the drama we caused!

Studio is Open!

June8

We’ve been working on the studio.  We’ve done the floor, a little bit of painting, a new floor for the loft, some moving in and even painted a few stairs …and We are officially in our new space.  We have a Studio!

We are planning a ribbon cutting ceremony, grand opening specials and open house.  You can come in now through June 22, 2012 to enter your name to win a photo shoot/package worth $300 and if you check in on Facebook while you’re there, you’ll get a free 8×10 print of your shoot.  Just stop in to check out the new space, we’d love to have you come in.  You can always book with us later.
We have props and lots of ideas for shoots.  We are looking foward to working with you to capture some really great images you’ll love.

Our studio is ready, and it is a work in progress, which I think is awesome.  There will always be something changing or being added to the studio, whether it’s paint on another step or an added prop.  Ideas, imagination and love of what we do are what drives us.

We are always adding props and wardrobe.  There is a great loft upstairs full of props, wardrobe and a more intimate, private setting for glamour and boudoir sessions.

Finally!  A home for all my props!

Can’t wait to show you around the studio!  Hope to see you soon at 1228 Parkway Drive, Suite C in Santa Fe New Mexico ~ Visit us at Cinematic Afterglow where we do photography and video!

A Baby!

March14

…and it might just be a princess.  Or not.  Either way, Baby will be very lucky and very loved with a very smart and a really cute big sister who can’t wait to meet her new brother or sister.

Love …and this is Love

We had a great time photographing Jen and her beautiful princess.  Actually, my assistant and I both left the shoot that day a Princess.  It’s official.  Little J said we were.  Both of us.  She made it so, and, Yes …we believe her.  I think you should too.

“You’re a Princess!”

Motherhood is such a special joy and it is even more so when you know so.

Pregnant women are some of the most beautiful women in the world.  Lucky are the women who have people in their life who realize it, and blessed is the woman who knows this for herself.

Thank you Jen and J for a great day, and letting us share in your joy!

We love when you visit, come back soon!

(…and thank you Danielle, you were an awesome assistant on this shoot!)

Revisiting Miriam’s Well

February4

I had the extreme good fortune a while back to visit and photograph Miriam’s Well, a school of Weaving!  The atmosphere was so inviting.  The colors were vibrant, the mood of the place was relaxed and confident, just like Miram, the owner of this great business.

Meet Miriam Leth-Espesen…Owner, Instructor

I came across these images during an organization bout I recently had.  I’m glad I did.  It gave me the chance to relive some great memories, and look up Miriams’ Well again.  I’m very happy to say that this quaint business is thriving and actually won a Best of Business award for the 2010 year from the Small Business Commerce Association (SBCA).

I hope you enjoy these images as much as I did capturing them.

If you live in Santa Fe, or are even just visiting and have the slightest interest in shopping, beautiful peaceful spaces, knitting or weaving, and color I suggest you visit this hidden gem.  It is located on 614 PASEO DE PERALTA, near downtown.  http://www.sfschoolofweaving.com/#

Santuario de Chimayo in New Mexico

September29

On Sunday we left the house early to pick up our 13 year old son from a friend’s house.  We decided to grab a quick breakfast and take a drive.  As we often do, we decided on making our trip North and head towards Santuario de Chimayo.  Fall is in the air, the weather is just beautiful here in New Mexico this time of year.

We hadn’t been to Santuario since the beginning of summer and when we arrived, we were excited to see that the Santo Nino de Atocha Chapel which is almost next door to the main church was open.  It hadn’t been in a long time, and it’s been years since we were last inside this simple Chapel.

We found out why it always seemed always to be closed when we visited.  It was because they were remodeling the Chapel.  The remodel is complete and the Chapel will now be open daily.  The inside is filled with local artwork, birds and hearts.  It is a quaint, beautiful, and unique chapel.

It is a chapel for children, a Chapel dedicated to the Child Jesus.

Chimayo, New Mexico.

The above picture on the right was taken at the shop located right between the two chapels.  They sell religious articles, candles, cards, jewelry, pinon, and chile.  It’s been there as long as I can remember, and always a must see when visiting Santuario de Chimayo.

Santuario de Chimayo will always be a destination for us, planned or otherwise.  It is a beautiful and soothing place to visit.  The kids love it, and it helps us to reconnect with our faith and lessons we were taught as children growing up in New Mexico.  It isn’t just a tourist destination, it’s a destination that calls to you, and you leave feeling better about your day, your community, your faith and New Mexico.  Sometimes we get into the car with no real plans and end up in Chimayo at Santuario.

If you are a local New Mexican, it’s time to visit again!

If you are a tourist, planning a trip to New Mexico, Chimayo should be on your list of places you have to visit.  You can even contact us at Cinematic Afterglow, we’ll plan a sightseeing, photography trip up North for you, or with you!  (505)471-2857

I was lucky enough to be featured in New Mexico Free Press, a local weekly newspaper.  I was so excited to be chosen, and really proud.  I always loved taking pictures!  I feel that it enhances what I see through the video camera, and that shows through in my video work.  My husband also has a great eye, and together we are a great team.  We push each other to learn more and become better every time we pick up a camera, be it for still shots or video.  I think that having my photos in New Mexico Free Press opened my eyes even more to the possibilities of life behind a camera.  It’s a great periodical and the people were so nice, we decided to run an ad for Cinematic Afterglow with them.  Look for it in various locations around New Mexico (actually, here’s a link  http://www.nmfreepress.com/locate.shtml so you can find yours).  If you pick one up, and it’s got our ad, let us know how you like it.

The Pictures Featured in NM Free Press

March9

The picture below was taken one morning while taking my kids to school.  I can’t resist taking pictures of Santa Maria de la Paz Parish when the sky is so amazing, and being that I pass it almost every day, I get to choose some really great clouds!

The picture above was taken in Northern New Mexico on the way to Abiquiu, Georgia O’Keefe country.  A group of people were burning fallen trees on the property, hence the “foggy” background.

The picture below is one of my favorites.  It was taken of a friend of mine and his good buddies in Pecos, New Mexico during a Mud Bog.  This picture was also blogged in a group on Flickr for a song theme by Guns n Roses, Dead or Alive …I’m a Cowboy, on a steel horse I ride

Missed Out

The picture on the right was taken on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, NM.  And it’s another photo I like a lot.   It really reminds me of “old Santa Fe”, and I sure do miss “old Santa Fe” sometimes!
The shot below was taken in Taos for the Autumn Run Car Show.  The sunset was beautiful that evening, and I just had to figure out a way to get it into this shot, even just a little bit.  We already on our way out, so I didn’t get to play with sunset shots too much that night.  Maybe this year!

On a Hill

The photo of the moon was a lucky shot.  We were at Santuario in Chimayo, New Mexico working on a documentary of the annual Pilgrimage which happens every year for Holy Week.  We were there getting some shots of the church to use in the footage, and just happened to be there during sunset and moonrise.  (We are still working on the documentary and will Blog to let everyone know it is done.  My brother passed away very soon after Easter last year and we just ended up putting the project on hold for a while)
Below… last but not least the Pink Holly Hocks on Cerrillos Road and Guadalupe Streets in Santa Fe, just about the prettiest and tallest Holly Hocks I’ve ever seen.  Gorgeous, on a beautifully stormy day too.  I just had to pull over and get a shot of them!
